The Swift Current 15U AAA 57’s won three of five games at a weekend tournament in Saskatoon.
Friday, the 57’s opened the tournament with an 8-1 win over the White Butte Broncos. Mason Fauser earned the complete game victory after holding the Broncos to three hits, one walk, and one unearned run while striking out eight over seven innings.
Ty Switzer hit a home run, singled, scored twice, and had three runs batted in. Aiden Kilshaw singled, doubled, stole a base, scored, and had one RBI. Hudson Unger singled twice, scored, and had one RBI. Fauser doubled, scored twice, and had two RBIs. Taylor Mclaren singled, stole a base, and scored. Aiden Robinson singled and knocked home one run.
The 15U AAA 57’s lost their second game 7-6 to the Edmonton Expos. Fauser led the 57’s with a single, a double, one run scored, and one RBI. Wesley Olson singled, stole a base, and had one RBI. Robinson doubled and had two RBIs. Kilshaw doubled and scored. Jase Johnson and Mclaren both singled and scored. Switzer singled, scored, and knocked one run home.
The 57’s were back in the win column with an 8-7 victory over the Saskatoon Brewers on Saturday afternoon. Hudson Unger hit a sacrifice fly to plate Kyrell Adair in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the game.
Mclaren earned the win as he got the final five outs without allowing a run. Adair made the start on the mound and helped his own cause with a three-run home run and a two-run single. Kilshaw singled and walked twice to score three runs from the leadoff spot.
Mclaren doubled, scored, and had one RBI. Fauser singled, was hit by a pitch, stole a base, and had one RBI. Robinson doubled and scored. Keegan Kristmanson singled and scored.
The 57’s were edged 5-4 by South Central that evening. Adair led the offense with a double, two singles, one run scored, and one RBI. Fauser singled, scored, and had one RBI. Olson doubled and scored, while Owen Sletten reached on an error and stole a base.
The 57’s closed out the tournament with a 7-4 win over the Saskatoon Expos. Aiden Kilshaw hit a home run, singled, stole two bases, scored twice, and finished with two RBIs. Mclaren singled, walked, stole three bases, and scored twice. Unger singled twice and scored. Olson doubled and had one RBI. Johnson singled and brought two runs in to score.
Kristmanson picked up the win as he held the Expos to six hits, two walks, and four runs, only three that were earned, while striking out six over seven innings.
The 15U 57’s will return to league action this weekend with double headers at Ford Field on Saturday against the Saskatoon Brewers and Sunday against the Moose Jaw Canucks beginning at 12 p.m.
