Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats goaltender Karlee Lehner was named the CCM Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League First Star after a near perfect month of January.
The Prince Albert product was 3-0 in January, leading the Wildcats to three consecutive 2-1 wins while stopping 93 of 96 shots for a .969 save percentage and a 0.95 goals against average.
“Karlee is a hard-working player who brings a positive attitude to the rink on a daily basis. She has excellent practice habits, demonstrates a team-first attitude and is very coachable. Karlee has shown continual improvement throughout the season. Her calm demeanour and ability to make timely saves has helped her team win close games this season,” said long-time Wildcats head coach Terry Pavely.
Lehner is tied for the league lead with 10 wins. She is fourth with a .935 save percentage and fifth with a 1.84 GAA.
Regina’s Greta Henderson was named the Second Star after posting 10 goals and 10 assists in seven games in January. Notre Dame’s Eva Filippova was the Third Star after posting a .953 save percentage and 1.00 GAA in three wins.
