The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires scored four goals in the second period to defeat the host Saskatoon Contacts 6-3 on Sunday. Liam Ernst picked up the win with 21 saves.
Matt Ripplinger led the Legionnaires with two goals and one assist, followed by two goals from Hudson Darby and two assists from Phoenix LaRose. Eric Hoiness and Carter Cormier also scored. Theo McGuire, Denyn Smith, and Nick Smolinski all added assists.
Noah Chadwick, Berkley Catton, and Rhett Ewen replied for the Contacts. Lane Beal took the loss after allowing six goals on 21 shots over 32:32. Chase Wutzke stopped all nine shots he faced in relief.
The Legionnaires remain eighth in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League with a 16-16-0-5 record, five points ahead of the Battlefords Stars for the final playoff spot.
The Legionnaires will visit the second-place Notre Dame Hounds on Wednesday.
