Mathew Ward scored twice to lead the Swift Current Broncos to a 3-1 win over the visiting Lethbridge Broncos to snap a four-game losing streak.
Ward opened the scoring in the first period when he tapped home a loose puck in the crease. He doubled the lead early in the second period with his 14th goal of the season.
Carter Stebbings added an insurance marker with 7:30 remaining in the third period. Hayden Smith scored late in regulation to get the Hurricanes on the board.
Isaac Poulter made 30 saves to improve 12-11-3-1. Jared Picklyk fell to 4–3-0-0 with 25 saves.
The Broncos earned their first win of 2022 to move to 14-18-4-1, while Lethbridge fell to 14-16-2-1.The Broncos will host the Red Deer Rebels on Tuesday.
