A dominating weekend at the net has been rewarded for Swift Current’s Dylan Mortensen.
The fourth-year member of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies compiled 40 kills over two matches on his way to Canada West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week honors.
Mortensen finished with 29 kills on Friday to help the host Huskies to a five-set win over the University of Brandon Bobcats. He added five digs and three blocks as well.
The 6’8’’ attacker added 11 kills, five digs, and three service aces in a four-set win on Saturday.
Mortensen now leads Canada West with 162 kills, 32 more than the next closest competitor.
The Huskies are currently second in the East Division with a 5-5 record. They will return to action on Jan. 28-29 against the host University of Manitoba Bisons.
