Rebecca Tyberg of Success is Saskatchewan’s newest millionaire after claiming the top prize in a Western Canada Lottery Corporation wide-area progressive jackpot.
Tyberg won the grand jackpot of $1,071,735.47 by playing the game Vault Breaker at the Springs Garden Restaurant and Lounge in Swift Current on November 27.
Tyberg stated in a WCLC news released that she was shocked when all five Vault Breaker icons fell in place on her screen.
“Honestly, I didn’t know what was going on at first,” she said while claiming her prize. “Then someone told me I was a millionaire; I couldn’t believe it!”
The winner said at this point her plans for her windfall mirror the popular 1992 song ‘If I Had $1,000,000’ by the Barenaked Ladies.
“I would like to get a fur coat, but not real fur coat – that’s cruel,” she laughed “And a nice, reliant automobile!”
Vault Breaker is a progressive game that links 4,200 VLTs at approximately 570 sites in 270 communities across Saskatchewan. There are three mystery jackpot tiers: the province-wide grand jackpot has a minimum value of $500,000 and pays out before it hits $1.5 million, the regional major jackpot has a minimum value of $5,000 and pays out before it hits $25,000, and the local site jackpot minimum is $100 and pays out before hitting $500. Any of the three jackpot tiers can be awarded when a patron plays Vault Breaker.
The province-wide jackpot has awarded just over $17.7 million to 18 winners since June 2017. Vault Breaker’s province-wide grand jackpot has now been reset to $500,000.
