Rookie Hudson Darby scored twice in the third period to lift the Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires to a season opening win on Friday.
Darby scored a pair of unassisted goals to break a 1-1 tie as the Legionnaires opened the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League regular season with a 3-1 win over the host Tisdale Trojans.
Eric Hoiness also scored in the second period with assists from Denyn Smith and Brendan Quinn-Lagria. Carter Ralston replied for the Trojans.
Brayden Schenstead earned the win with 29 saves on 30 shots. Cody Wilson took the loss with 36 saves.
The Legionnaires will be in Prince Albert to face the Mintos on Saturday.
