Ten Southwest golfers took part in the 2021 Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour / Golf Saskatchewan OOM Series at the Elmwood Golf and Country Club over the weekend.
Chloe Wills (Kyle) and Niya Friesen (Swift Current) swept the top two spots in the U15 Girls Division.
Wills, golfing out of the Sask Landing Golf Resort, won the event by six strokes with rounds of 85 and 91. Friesen placed second with an 88 on Saturday and a 94 on Sunday.
Kadyn Olfert (Swift Current) and Kasey Gleim (Chaplin) represented the Southwest in the 13-golfer Peewee Boys Division. Olfert placed 10th with rounds of 91 and 96. Gleim finished in 12th after a 99 on day one and a 102 on Sunday.
Ryder Woods (Swift Current), Paxton Wallace (Swift Current), Ayden Ross (Swift Current), and Lyndon Ross (Shaunavon) were the Southwest golfers in the Bantam Boys Division.
Woods fired rounds of 89 and 84 to place 14th. Ayden Ross shot a 96 on day one and then trimmed nine strokes for an 87 on Sunday to place 18th. Wallace posted a 98 and a 99 to place 25th, followed by Lyndon Ross in 26th with rounds of 109 and 98.
Dade Bernatchez (Sucker River) won the Bantam Boys Division by three strokes with a 69 and a 78.
Makstr McIntyre (Swift Current) and Logan Lenz (Swift Current) were the local representatives in the Juvenile Division.
McIntyre tied for 12th with an 87 followed by an 80. Lenz was 22nd with a 94 and an 84. Weyburn’s Darien Herlick won the Junior Boys title by two strokes with rounds of 70 and 78.
The next Saskatchewan stop on the MJT Tour will be in Estevan on July 2-3.
