The Swift Current Broncos remain without an answer for Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats this season. Bedard finished with four points as the Pats defeated the Broncos for a third time this season in a 6-1 win.
The Pats jumped ahead with Carson Denomie’s 12th goal of the season and a power play goal from Logan Nijhoff. Mathew Ward gave the Broncos a glimmer of hope when he scored with only 29.1 seconds left in the opening period with a perfect shot to the top corner.
The Pats scored four goals in the third period to close out the scoring, led by two goals from Bedard. The Western Hockey League’s first ‘exceptional status’ player now leads the WHL with 26 points in 14 games. Bedard finished the season series with 10 points in three games. He will miss the series finale after being named to Team Canada for the U18 World Championships.
Cole Dubinsky and Zack Smith also scored in the period as the Pats improved to 5-6-2-1.
Reid Dyck took the loss with 30 saves to fall to 1-3-0-0. Roddy Ross improved to 3-5-1-0 with 20 saves for the Pats.
The Broncos (3-9-1-0) are right back on the ice on Wednesday when they face the Brandon Wheat Kings at 8 p.m.
