Playing for his third team this season, Glenn Gawdin’s first goal of the 2020-21 campaign was a memorable one when he scored the overtime winner for the Stockton Heat on Monday.

The former Broncos captain scored 34 seconds into overtime to lift the Heat to a 6-5 overtime win over the host Manitoba Moose to complete a two-point outing.

Gawdin made his National Hockey League debut last month and appeared in five games with the Calgary Flames before being reassigned to their American Hockey League affiliate. Gawdin also played in one game with EHC Visp while on loan in Switzerland earlier in the season. Gawdin, 23, now has three points in four AHL games this season.

The Heat will battle the Moose again on Wednesday, the second of four straight games in Winnipeg. The Heat are based out of Calgary this season and will play their games entirely in Canada. They currently sit first in the five-team Canadian Division with a 6-2 record.
