Motorists and downtown businesses in Swift Current can expect some traffic delays during a three day pavement renewal project along Central Ave. N. occurring Monday to Wednesday.
Work begins on Monday, July 27 and runs until Wednesday, July 29 from the zero block to Herbert Street.
“To minimize the impact of construction to businesses and motorists, the work will take place one lane at a time. While milling will occur on one lane of Central Avenue North, the other lane of the one-way will remain open, including parking,” the City of Swift Current stated in a press release. “Once the milled lane is complete, crews will switch to the other side. When the entire length of repair is milled, crews will pave one lane at a time to allow parking and traffic flow on the other lane of Central Avenue North.”
The pavement renewal will also impact east and westbound traffic at the corners of Chaplin St. and Central Ave. N. plus Cheadle St. and Central Ave. when these intersection will be periodically closed to accommodate required work.
“Detours will be in place moving Eastbound traffic to North Railway Street, and Westbound traffic to Herbert Street,” the city advises. “Drivers should exercise caution, follow detours or plan an alternate route during this time.”
