Four members of the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats have been recognized with Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League awards or all-star nods.
Leading the way was goaltender Amaya Giraudier, who was the co-recipient of the Brittony Chartier Top Goalie award along with the Battlefords Sharks’ Haylie Biever. Giraudier led the league with a 0.949 save percentage and tied for the league lead with 14 wins. She was second with a 1.20 goals against average and tied for second with four shutouts in 15 appearances. Biever and Giraudier also shared First All-Star Team honours.
Gull Lake’s Baylee Kirwan was named the Fiona Smith Most Sportsmanlike Player and was named to the Second All-Star Team. Kirwan finished second in the league with 29 goals and was third with 41 points while being whistled for only 10 penalty minutes.
Sara Kendall was named to the First All-Star Team after finishing second in league scoring. The Ponteix native registered 20 goals and 27 assists in 30 games. She will join the University of Saskatchewan Huskies next season.
Graduating captain Maddy McCleary was named to the Second All-Star team on the blueline. The hometown product was second amongst league defenseman with 25 points in 30 games. McCleary will join the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns next season.
The Wildcats finished second in the regular season with a 21-7-1-1 record before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
