Midget AA Broncos split final road trip of 2019

The Swift Current Abbey Resources Broncos finished out 2019 in the Saskatchewan Midget AA Hockey League with a split of two road games.

Saturday, the Broncos scored three power play goals in a 6-1 win over the host Weyburn Wings. Cade Reich led the Broncos with two goals and one assist, while Rhett Dekowny and Chase Sawchuk each had two-assist outings.

Colton Leahy, Kole Giesbrecht, Dayne Feicht, and Jaydon Jessiman also scored. Kaden Floberg, Ethan Hilbig, and Davis Hunter all added assists. Vince Pinsonneault earned the win with 20 saves to finish 2019 with an 8-3-1 record with a 2.56 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.

Sunday, the Broncos fell 5-4 to the South Division leading Estevan Bruins. Rylan Hildebrand made 44 saves in a losing cause to finish 2019 with a 9-3-0 record with a 2.32 GAA and a .915 save percentage.

Hilbig registered a goal and an assist, while Sawchuk had another two-assist outing.  Denyn Smith, Giesbrecht, and Jaydon Jessiman scored in the loss. Floberg, Kane Klassen, and Leahy all added assists.

The league and provincial champions finished the year in third spot in the South Sask League with a 17-5-1-1 record. They will return to league action on Jan. 5 when they visit the Prairie Storm in Balgonie.
