The Swift Current Comp. Colts basketball team attended the 31st Annual Fekula Senior Classic in Regina over the weekend and won once in three outings.

The Colts lost their opener 84-70 to the Harvest City Reapers. Grade 12 wing Tanner Scott led the Colts with 18 points, followed by 12 from Jesse Patzer and 10 from Rhett Vavra.

“They had a couple of tremendously physical scorers who we struggled to stop in the first half. We changed to a box and one defense in the second half which helped slow them down but they made enough threes to win the game,” said coach Adam Jackson.

They dropped their second game 101-97 to the host Regina Balfour Bears despite a 53-point effort from Scott in a losing cause. He finished 20-for-33 from the field, including nine three-pointers. Scott also added 10 rebounds and three steals in a performance for the ages.

The Colts wrapped up the weekend with an 88-52 win over the Regina Riffel Royals. Parker Leonard led the Colts with 12 points, followed by 11 from Carl Soriano and nine from Griffin Duncalfe.

The Colts (4-6) will return to tournament action on Jan. 9-11 in Medicine Hat.
