The Swift Current Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats got their preseason off to an unbeaten start as they won all three games during their annual home tournament.
The Wildcats opened the weekend with a 3-0 win over the Pembina Valley Hawks on Friday on goals from Samantha Thompson, Sara Kendall, and Baylee Kirwan. Paris Appel, Brooklyn Rublee, and Kendall all added assists. Maya Giraudier earned the shutout with 14 saves, while the Wildcats fired 43 shots on goal.
The Wildcats followed up on Saturday with a 5-2 win over U16 Team Manitoba. Kirwan scored twice, while Ryleigh White, Rublee, and Ashlee Wolfe all added singles. Cheyenne Jamieson picked up the win in goal.
They wrapped up the successful weekend with a 6-1 win over the Pilot Mound Buffaloes. Kirwan scored her fourth and fifth goals of the weekend, while Kendall, White, Thompson, and Gracie Georget also scored. Aurora Van Wormer earned the win in goal.
Wildcats head coach Terry Pavely was behind the bench of U16 Team Saskatchewan, who also finished with a 3-0 record. Team Sask, featuring Wildcats defenseman Shelby Rublee (Kindersley) and Gull Lake’s Sadie Keller, also finished 3-0 with a 6-2 win over Manitoba, a 4-0 win over Pilot Mound, and a 9-0 win over Pembina Valley.
