Southwest cowboys earned a pair of event wins at the Canadian Cowboys Association’s Yorkton Rodeo on July 4-6.
Maple Creek’s Mike Gordon came up with a win for the Southwest in Saddle Bronc with a 74-point ride aboard Highly Suspect for $469. Piapot’s Casey Bertram placed sixth with 69 points on Anything Goes for $81.
All three McLeod brothers (Waldeck) were in the Team Roping money, including a win for Tee McLeod when he combined with Trey Gallais (Sundre, AB) to take top spot in 4.6 seconds for $1,863. Tuftin and Tyce McLeod tied for third in 5.5 seconds for $1,255.
Maple Creek’s Brady Bertram added a second-place finish in Bareback with 75 points on Geeze Louise for $413.
Mankota’s Shawn Williamson was also second in Yorkton in Tie Down Roping in 9.1 seconds for $719. Waldeck’s Tuftin McLeod was right behind him in third in 9.3 seconds for $569.
Waldeck’s Mallory Mallert tied for fourth in Ladies Barrel Racing in 15.18 seconds for $617. Shaunavon’s Haley Glasrud tied for seventh in 15.25 seconds for $172.
The CCA will be back in the region this weekend for the Wood Mountain Stampede on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
