The Swift Current 17U Female Junior SunDogs won their final four matches to claim gold at their eight-team home tournament.
The SunDogs, coached by Shawn Hiebert and Michael Ruus, finished with a 5-2 record in the round robin. They opened the tournament with four straight wins on Saturday as they defeated the QCVC 18U Black Ice (25-16, 26-28), the BVC 18U Wildfire (25-18, 25-23), the Weyburn Rush (25-21, 25-11) and the Taber Wham (25-14, 25-7).
They ended the day with losses to the MHVC 18U (23-25, 22-25) and the JCVC Big Red (16-25, 23-25).
The 17U SunDogs concluded the round robin on Sunday morning with a win over the SEAVC Broncos (25-20, 25-27).
They opened the playoffs with a win over BVC 18U Wildfire (25-22, 25-14) and then defeated the SEAVC Broncos (25-16, 25-17) in the semi-final.
The SunDogs avenged their earlier loss with a three-set win over the MHVC 18U (25-15, 16-25, 15-10) to win gold.
