Broncos trade Fyten to Oil Kings

Andrew Fyten STEVEN MAH/SOUTHWEST BOOSTER

The Swift Current Broncos made another trade on Thursday as they look to reshape their roster with an eye on the future.

One day after scoring twice and being named the first star during a 4-3 comeback win over the Regina Pats, the Broncos traded overage forward Andrew Fyten to the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The Broncos received a conditional fifth round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.

Fyten was tied for second on the team with eight goals and was second with 17 points in 27 games this season.

He was a trade deadline acquisition last season and helped the Broncos win the Ed Chynoweth with six points and a plus-three rating in 25 playoff games. The Sundre, AB native has 59 points and 283 penalty minutes in 211 regular season games with the Calgary Hitmen and the Broncos.

This marks the second trade this season between the Broncos and Oil Kings. The Broncos previously sent defenseman Jacson Alexander to the Oil Kings in a deal that brought forward Matthew Culling to Swift Current.
