The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats ran into a couple of standout performers in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League on Thursday.
Kaitlyn Ross stopped all 42 shots she faced and Claire Nimegeers notched a hat trick to defeat the Wildcats 3-0 in Wilcox.
The Wildcats finished with a 42-24 margin on the shot clock, including an 11-2 advantage in the final frame. The Hounds scored twice on eight power play opportunities, while the Wildcats failed to convert on four man-advantages.
Harper Davey took the loss with 21 saves on 24 shots.
The Wildcats dropped to 1-3-0-1, while the Hounds were playing their first game of the season.
The Wildcats will take another shot at the Hounds on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
