The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires lost their exhibition opener despite a 49-save performance from Justin Dueck on Thursday.
The Legionnaires were outshot 53-17 in a 4-1 loss to the host Moose Jaw Generals in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League pre-season.
The Legionnaires led on a first-period goal from McGuire Scheidt with an assist from Kaedan Watkins.
The Generals responded with 24 shots in the middle stanza and goals from Jake Palmer, Jeron Kletzel, Evan Sare, and Ben Peterson.
The Legionnaires will be in Saskatoon to face the Contacts on Saturday. They host the Generals on Sunday at 6:45 p.m. at the Innovation Credit Union iplex.
