A pair of Swift Current United Soccer Club products found the back of the net in U Sports Men’s Soccer action over the long weekend.
Thomas Hammerton scored the only goal for the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Saturday in a 2-1 loss to the Grant MacEwan University Griffins. The veteran fullback played all 90 minutes and had three shots attempts, scoring in the 56th minute to tie the game 1-1 when he headed in a corner kick.
Lethbridge lost 2-1 to the University of Alberta the following day to drop to 0-4.
Tobi Ojo continued to make his presence felt as a rookie with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Ojo scored for a third straight game to open his career in a 2-1 loss to the Alberta Golden Bears on Saturday.
Ojo came on as a substitute for the final 31 minutes and scored in the 62nd minute to bring the Huskies within one goal.
The host Huskies defeated the Grant MacEwan Griffins 2-1 on Sunday to improve to 2-2 on the season.
