Team South West finished the first half of 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games in North Battleford in sixth spot in the medal standings with five gold, seven silver, and six bronze medals.
Their updated total after day three added three gold medals and three silver medals as the first-half sports concluded.
Harm Haase (Pense) added his second gold medal with a championship performance in the -40 KG Judo Skills Competition. Justin Wiens (Moose Jaw) also added a gold medal in the 50+ KG Boy’s Judo Skills Competition. Molly Morris (Moose Jaw) added a gold medal in the 200 Metre Girl’s Speed Skating event.
Swift Current’s Ghrandozz Aguilar won his second medal of the Games with a silver in the 50+ KG Boy’s Judo Skills Competition. Shaine Closs (Moose Jaw) won silver in the Tumbling Trampoline Gymnastics Mixed. Team South West added another silver medal in the 200 Metre Speed Skating Girl’s Relay as well.
Second half sports will open on Thursday. They include Badminton, Bowling, Special Olympics Bowling, Cross Country Skiing, Girl’s Curling, Figure Skating, Girl’s Ice Hockey, Snowboarding, Table Tennis, and Wrestling.
