Spagrud and Doerksen to skate in SJHL/MJHL Showcase

Cody Spagrud and Carter Doerksen will have an opportunity to impress college hockey scouts when they skate in the SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina next week.

The former Swift Current Legionnaires were named to the roster for the showcase, which will feature the top 60 college eligible players from both the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Spagrud, a 5’11’’ Battlefords Stars blueliner, will skate for Team Kunitz, comprised of players born in 1997-98. The Gull Lake product has one goal and 18 assists in 34 games during his third season in the SJHL with the Stars.

Doerksen, a 5’10’’ defenseman for the Nipawin Hawks, will skate for Team Mitchell, which is also comprised of players born in 1997-98. The Swift Current native has four goals, 14 assists, and 82 penalty minutes in 35 games with the Hawks in his fourth SJHL season.

The SJHL/MJHL Showcase will be held at the Co-operators Center on Jan. 15-16.
