Gull Lake’s Taylor Kirwan will play for a medal at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Hockey Championship in Russia.
Team Canada advanced to the semi-final Wednesday with a 3-1 win over the Czech Republic.
Canada had advanced to the playoffs with a 1-2 round robin record, including a 6-2 loss to the United States when Kirwan, a member of the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats, was named Canada’s Player of the Game.
Canada will get a rematch with the United States in Friday’s semi-final in Dmitrov, Russia.
