The Western Hockey League trade deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 3 p.m. MT, but the Swift Current Broncos did not wait until the final hours to improve their hockey club.
The Swift Current Broncos enter Wednesday with the second best record in the WHL at 29-10-3-0, eight points behind the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Broncos have been a part of six trades already this season, including blockbuster deals with the Calgary Hitmen and Lethbridge Hurricanes. A total of 10 players and two draft picks have been acquired by the Broncos as they have added scoring, depth, experience, grit, and toughness throughout the line-up.
A total of 12 players have been traded away, including three former first-round picks, seven draft picks and three conditional draft picks have also been sent to five different teams.
The Broncos are expected to have all five of their most recent trade acquisitions from Prince George, Calgary, and Lethbridge when they head to Prince Albert Friday to take on the Raiders, which will also mark the return of Canadian World Junior hero Tyler Steenbergen for the first time in 42 days.
The Broncos will be back at home Saturday to host the Edmonton Oils King for World Junior Tribute Night.
