Broncos shutout Giants for eighth straight win

Logan Flodell stopped all 38 shots he faced to lead the Swift Current Broncos to their eighth straight win to open the season with a 1-0 victory over the visiting Vancouver Giants Friday.

Flodell improved to 7-0 since joining the Broncos from the Saskatoon Blades with his first shutout of the season.

After a scoreless first period, Tyler Steenbergen broke the deadlock 11:54 into the middle stanza when he beat two Giants around the corner and then beat David Tendeck through the five-hole for his league leading 16th goal of the season. Steenbergen has now scored in seven straight games after being shutout in the season opener in Saskatoon.

The Broncos improved to 8-0-0-0, while Vancouver dropped to 2-4-0-1.

The Broncos will be back at home Saturday to host the Edmonton Oil Kings.
