Gull Lake’s Taylor Kirwan skated with Canada’s National Women’s U18 Team in Lake Placid, NY for three games against the United States over the past four days.

The United States won game one on Thursday 4-1. Lindsay Reed stopped 28 of 29 shots to lead the Americans to victory. Canada got their only goal from Audrey Anne-Veillette on the power play in the second period.

Friday, Canada replied with a 3-0 win when Madelyn McArthur stopped all 26 shots she faced to help Canada even the series.

Sunday, the Canadians lost 3-1 despite outshooting the Americans 33-13. Reed made 32 saves for the United States in the win.

Kirwan and the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats will get their season underway when they host their annual preseason tournament on September 8-10 with seven other Midget AAA teams in attendance, in addition to a game between the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns and a Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League showcase team.
