57’s fall in extras to Moose Jaw

The Swift Current 57’s suffered a second straight loss Thursday in a 12-inning 3-1 loss to the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express.

Pate Katechis doubled home a pair of runs in the top of the 12th inning, while the 57’s stranded runners at second and third in the bottom half of the inning.

The opening nine innings featured a solo home run from Moose Jaw’s Ben Dalke in the second inning, while Blake Adams replied with a towering solo blast in the eighth inning for the 57’s. Adams finished three-for-three, with two walks, and a stolen base.

James Smith got the no decision after scattering eight hits and one earned run with five strikeouts over nine complete innings.

The 57’s suddenly find themselves in a three-way tie for first place in the Eastern Division with a 4-2 record, while Moose Jaw improved to 2-4.

The 57’s are off to Weyburn this weekend to face the Beavers on Saturday and Sunday.
