The Swift Current Broncos acquired a veteran presence for their defensive unit on Tuesday when they traded for Marek Rocak.
Rocak is fresh off helping Czechia win bronze at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship as he registered three assists in nine games.
The 5’10” defensemen has 10 goals and 50 assists in 119 regular season games with the Rockets. He also has postseason experience with two goals and two assists 11 playoff outings.
The Broncos sent forward Dawson Gerwing and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft to Kelowna in the deal.
Gerwing was a third-round pick in 2021 and has 10 points in 27 games this season. The Meadow Lake product has 19 points in 69 WHL regular season games overall.
The WHL trade deadline is Thursday at 6 p.m. MT.
The Broncos are currently eighth in the Eastern Conference, but only seven points back of the Saskatoon Blades for top spot in the East Division. The Broncos will return to action on Friday when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
