The Swift Current Broncos dropped their fifth straight game in a 4-3 loss to the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers on a late goal from league leading scorer Gavin McKenna.
The Broncos scored twice in the opening frame, beginning with a Clarke Caswell one-timer only 41 seconds into regulation, his 10th goal of the season. Rylan Gould banked a puck off a skate and in midway through the period for his ninth goal to double the lead.
The Broncos added to the lead 7:55 into the second period when Luke Mistelbacher got behind the Tigers and went high to the glove side for his 17th goal. Liam Ruck got the Tigers on the board with a power play goal minutes later.
The Tigers cut into the lead again early in the third period with another goal from Liam Ruck when he capitalized on a Broncos turnover in their own end. The Tigers tied the game minutes later with an Oasis Weisblatt goal. They won the game with 16.3 seconds remaining when McKenna one-timed a long pass off the end boards into the far corner for his 19th goal.
Reid Dyck fell to 9–9-0-0 with 32 saves. Jordan Switzer improved to 8-3-1-0 with 16 saves.
The Broncos fell to 14-11-0-1, while Medicine Hat improved to 16-11-1-0.
The Broncos will visit the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday.
