The Swift Current Comp. Ardens senior girls basketball team won gold in decisive fashion in their opening tournament of the season.
The Ardens won all three games to win the Kelly Smith Memorial Tournament in Prince Albert for the first time in school history.
They opened the tournament with a 71-12 victory over Lloydminster Comp. on Friday, led by 12 points from Kylee Michaluk and 10 points from Milana Dyck.
The Ardens defeated Wynyard 68-31 in the semi-final. Danica Jackson scored 13 points and Michaluk added 11.
They capped the tournament title with a 63-46 win over Saskatoon St. Joseph. Jackson led the way with 13 points on her way to tournament Most Valuable Player honours. Dani Meyer added 11 points as she was named to the tournament’s First All-Star Team along with Sarah Neustaeter.
Michaluk won the three-point shooting contest by making 13 shots on one minute.
