The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires won once during a high-profile Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League clash with the visiting Saskatoon Blazers.
Friday, the Legionnaires fell behind 3-0 in the first period, but battled back for a 7-6 win on a Wesley Olson power play goal in overtime.
Jace Egland finished the game with four goals and two assists to continue his dominant season. Trae Peterson followed with one goal and four assists, while Olson had one assist to go along with his overtime goal. Carter Moen added one goal and two assists.
Fynn Harasymchuk and Will Kirwan each had two-assist outings. Kai Packet added one assist. Berney Weston made 29 saves to earn the win.
Cooper Perrin, Blake Chorney, Cooper Ernewein, Tyson Medernach, Kristian Lacelle, and Kash Ringdale all replied for the Blazers. Madex Kabrud took the loss with 32 saves on 39 shots.
Saturday, the Blazers got their revenge with a 6-2 win over the Legionnaires. Sam Kirwan and Egland scored for the Legionnaires with assists from Peterson, Moen, Jackson Fox, and Mason Fauser. Cade Mitchell took the loss with 26 saves.
Ernewein led the Blazers with a hat trick during a four-point outing. Shaan Basran, Ethan Hamilton, and Troy Shewchuk also scored. Reid Wassemann made 26 saves in the win.
The Legionnaires finished the weekend with a 7-2-0 record for the third best winning percentage in the league. The Blazers improved to 7-1-1.
The Legionnaires will host the Notre Dame Hounds (2-8-0) on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
