Tuntland-Wiebe running for a second term

Leanne Tuntland-Wiebe is throwing her hat in the ring for a second term on Swift Current City Council.

Tuntland-Wiebe’s campaign is focused on the future of Swift Current.

“Four years ago was certainly different in so many aspects compared to where we are in 2024. We were all overwhelmed with Covid-19. Not only physically but mentally and financially as well. It was my goal then to be sensitive to the needs of our residents and to help wherever possible. Council did so in a big way with a 0% increase in taxes the first year.”

Over her time on city council, Tuntland-Wiebe’s family saw many changes with the addition of three granddaughters. This brought about a shift in focus, with an emphasis on the future.

“I want our children and our grandchildren to know they are living in a safe, growing community with good schools, great amenities, and all the while being an affordable city to live in.” These ideals will continue to leave the city debt utmost in her mind for the next four years.

Tuntland-Wiebe has lived, worked, and contributed to Swift Current for four decades. Serving as a director at the Wheatland Mall, the board of Christian Education at Eastside Church of God, the Dr. Noble Irwin Foundation, and the SC and District Chamber of Commerce. As a councillor, she has served her term on Swift Current Tourism, the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Center, the Truth and Reconciliation committee, and is a member of the Police Advisory committee.

She is a local businesswoman who co-owns Bumper to Bumper along with her husband, Randy, and his sister, Sharon.

“My slogan in 2020 was: How can I help? It has not-and will not-change.”
