The Swift Current Comp. Senior Ardens have won their opening two tournaments of the season without losing a match.
The Ardens topped the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Tournament on Sept. 6-7 with seven straight match wins, defeating Warman in three sets in the championship match (25-19, 22-25, 15-13).
The Ardens had opened the weekend with wins over Lanigan (26-24, 25-17), Annaheim (25-15, 25-11), Davidson (25-17, 25-17), and Melfort (25-20, 25-7).
They defeated Wakaw in the quarter-final (25-12, 23-25, 15-9) and then disposed of Yorkton in the semi-final (25-21, 26-24).
The Ardens followed up with nine straight match wins at Mega-Volley in Regina this past weekend.
The Ardens finished 3-0 in the opening round robin with wins over Moose Jaw Vanier (21-25, 25-14), Regina Martin (25-15, 25-20), and Regina Riffel (25-13, 25-18).
They added another three wins in the Re-Pool with victories over Thom Collegiate (25-11, 25-13), Regina O’Neill (25-20, 25-12), and Regina LeBoldus (25-18, 25-16).
The Ardens made quick work of Moose Jaw Vanier in the quarter-final (25-12, 25-23). They edged Regina Campbell in the semi-final in three sets (21-25, 25-23, 15-7).
The Ardens closed out a second straight tournament title with a three-set win over Balgonie Greenall (25-20, 23-25, 15-11).
Madison Yates and Amryne Duncalfe were named Tournament All-Stars. Yates and Talyah Cuthbert were named the Ardens’ Tournament MVP’s.
The Senior Ardens will head to Weyburn this weekend for a tournament.
