The Swift Current Innovation Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats won once in three attempts at their six-team home preseason tournament.
The Wildcats opened the tournament with a 4-0 win over the Pilot Mound Buffaloes on Friday. Jordyn Ottenbreit earned the shutout with 13 saves as her teammates fired 36 shots on goal.
Jade Thompson led the attack with two goals, followed by singles from Raela Packet and Kaylee Williams.
Taylre Becker assisted on three goals and Kyla Benjamin added a pair of helpers. Rayna Hennie, Dior Stringer, and Emily McCleary all added single assists.
Saturday, the Wildcats lost 2-0 to the Weyburn Goldwings. Ashley Vezeau made 26 saves in the loss. They killed off all five shorthanded situations, but failed to score on six man-advantages.
Sunday, the Wildcats lost 6-0 to the Regina Rebels. Ottenbreit and Vezeau each made 13 saves in the loss. Regina scored twice on eight man-advantages, while the Wildcats finished without a goal on three power play opportunities.
The Wildcats will open the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League regular season on September 28-29 when they head north to visit the Prince Albert Northern Bears.
