Williamson wins two CCA events in Manitoba

Mankota’s Kiera Williamson won a pair of Canadian Cowboys Association events in Manitoba in one weekend recently.

She won Junior Girls Barrel Racing at the Virden Indoor Rodeo on August 16-18 in 13.44 seconds for $626.

Morse’s Tuftin McLeod and Brady Chappel (Moose Jaw) won Team Roping in 5.0 seconds for $3,477. Mankota’s Shawn Williamson and Greg Cruthers (Virden, MB) were second in 5.8 seconds for $3,024. Tuftin McLeod was leading the Header season standings with $12,334 at 17 rodeos this season.

Lucky Lake’s Sheridan Lillyman finished in a three-way tie for top spot in Ladies Breakaway Roping in 2.9 seconds for $1,494. Hazenmore’s Barbara Switzer tied for seventh in 3.3 seconds for $261.

Three of the top five finishers in Tie Down Roping in Virden came from the Southwest, led by Waldeck’s Tyce McLeod in second in 9.5 seconds for $1,134. Maple Creek’s Tate Beierbach was third in 9.6 seconds for $963. Tuftin McLeod tied for fourth in 9.8 seconds to claim $708. Blake Zieffle (Consort, AB) won the event in 9.2 seconds for $1,304.

Morse’s Mallory McLeod placed seventh in Ladies Barrel Racing in 13.58 seconds for $400. Angela Mastad (Pleasantdale) won the event in 13.22 seconds.

Kiera Williamson also won Junior Girls Barrel Racing Whitewood at the Chacachas Rodeo on August 16-17 in 14.56 seconds for $342. Hazenmore’s Tess Switzer followed in second spot in 14.93 seconds for $256. Kiera Williamson was leading the event season standings with $4,790 at 17 rodeos.

Maple Creek’s Dayton Cronkhite won Junior Steer Riding with 70 points for $324. Maple Creek’s Luke Morehead tied for second with 68.5 points for $202.

Barbara Switzer finished in a three-way tie for first in Ladies Breakaway Roping in 3.0 seconds for $1,198.

Tyce McLeod and Swift Current’s Chad Feil placed second in Team Roping in 6.2 seconds for $2,224. Hodgeville’s Ryan Stolson and Kal Klovansky (Edgeley) were fifth in 8.3 seconds for $834. Kelson McCuaig and Mac McCuaig (Bengough) won the event in 5.9 seconds.

Maple Creek’s Kahl Wasilow rode Free Fallin for 67 points to place third in Bull Riding for $688. Glen Erickson (Sundre, AB) won the event with 84.5 points on Cash is King. Wasilow was leading the CCA Bull Riding season standings with $9,909 earned at 21 rodeos this season, which also put him in the lead of the Rookie standings.

Maple Creek’s Janae Wilson placed third in Ladies Barrel Racing in 14.57 seconds for $864. Ashley Cleveland (Bengough) won the event in 14.37 seconds.

Shawn Williamson tied for sixth in Tie Down Roping in 11.5 seconds for $77. Blake Zieffle (Consort, AB) won the event in 8.6 seconds.

The CCA is in Arcola and Wapella this weekend.
