DeBrusk signs free agent deal with Canucks

Jake DeBrusk has a new hockey home after signing a seven-year deal with the Vancouver Canucks.

The former Swift Current Broncos forward has played all 465 regular season National Hockey League games with the Boston Bruins, who selected him 14th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft. He has registered 138 goals and 128 assists in the regular season to go along with 47 points in 86 playoff games.

DeBrusk, 27, signed the $38.5 million contract on Monday after registering 40 points in 80 games this past season, before adding 11 points in 13 playoff outings.

The Canucks won the Pacific Division in 2023-24 with a 50-23-9 record. They were eliminated from the playoffs in the second round in seven games by the Edmonton Oilers. The Bruins were also eliminated in the second round by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
