As a result of police investigation into yesterday’s reported assault, 32 year old Valerie Kibet has been charged with the following offences:
• 1 count of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code;
• 3 counts of Assault with a Weapon contrary to Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code; and
• 1 count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm contrary to Section 267(b) of the Criminal Code.
Kibet appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court this morning and will next appear on May 15, 2024.
On May 13, 2024 at 10:11 am Swift Current Municipal RCMP received several reports of an assault taking place on the 500 block of Chaplin Street West. Officers from the Swift Current Municipal and Rural detachments, as well as Swift Current Traffic Services and Swift Current Police Dog Services responded and located one female victim suffering from a head injury. EMS attended and the victim was transported to Cypress Regional Hospital for precautionary reasons.
The investigation remains ongoing, but Swift Current Municipal RCMP would like to thank the members of the public that called in and provided immediate assistance during this incident.
