The Swift Current Southwest Sports Excellence Broncos defeated Estevan twice in a preview of the opening round of the Saskatchewan U18 AA Hockey League playoffs.
Saturday, the Broncos opened the series with a 2-1 win when Ryder Bradford scored twice and Rhett Jamieson made 34 saves. Jake Hudec and Carter Tuplin picked up assists.
Kade Phillips scored for Estevan, while Ty Fehrenbach took the loss with 27 saves.
Sunday, the Broncos followed up with a 4-3 win as Conner Bender made 34 saves. Tuplin led the Broncos with one goal and two assists. Brett Stusrud, Ty Hudec, and Nate Silberbagel also scored. Dylan Hallborg, Dylan Gedny, and Bradford added assists.
Tuplin finished second in the province with 30 goals, 39 assists, and 69 points in 35 games. Bradford finished third with 37 assists and 63 points in 36 games.
The U18 AA Broncos finished sixth in the South Sask Division with an 18-14-1-3 record. They will face the third seeded Bruins in the opening round of the playoffs.
