Broncos doubled up by Hurricanes

The Swift Current Broncos allowed five goals in the third period in a 6-3 loss to the host Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday.

Clarke Caswell, Connor Gabriel, and Connor Hvidston scored in a losing cause. Caswell assisted on both goals for a three-point outing.

Tyson Zimmer and Brayden Edwards led the Hurricanes with two goals each, followed by singles from Logan Wormald and Elias Knoester. Lethbridge finished three-for-five on the power play.

Matthew Kieper made 33 saves for the Broncos. Harrison Meneghin earned the win with 25 saves.

The Broncos remain sixth in the Eastern Conference with an 18-15-2-2 record. The Hurricanes improved to 18-15-3-0, one point back of the Broncos.

Bronco Bits: Czech defenseman Jakub Dvorak made his Western Hockey League debut after signing with the Broncos. The Broncos were missing defensemen Ryan McCleary and Zach Turner due to suspension, while defenseman Josh Fluker was also scratched from the line-up as the WHL trade deadline approaches. Jace McFaul was also called up to fill in on the blueline.
