Wills wins MJT event in Waskesiu

Kyle’s Chloe Wills won the 2023 MJT – PLYR series at Elk Ridge Resort on August 12-13.

Her 82 in the second round clinched the 15-19 Girls Division title after sitting second with an opening-round 85.

Swift Current’s Niya Friesen placed second, three shots behind. She led with an 84 on day one and then shot an 86 in the final round.

Swift Current’s Max Gehl placed fifth in the Peewee Boys Division. He shot rounds of 98 and 89.

Four Southwest golfers placed in the top 10 in the Bantam Boys Division. Swift Current’s Matty Schmiess was sixth with rounds of 76 and 80. Swift Current’s Kadyn Olfert was eighth with rounds of 72 and 88. Kyle Jace Wills was 10th after carding rounds of 84 and 80. Shaunavon’s Colter Cruthers placed 23rd with scores of 130 and 112. Aricin Franklin (Saskatoon) won the event by 13 strokes with rounds of 70 and 66.

Swift Current’s Makstr McIntyre tied for eighth in the Junior Boys Division. He shot an 80 on day one, followed by a 78 on day two. Carter Degelman (Saskatoon) won by four strokes with rounds of 75 and 73.

Swift Current’s Ryder Woods tied for 16th in the Juvenile Boys Division. He shot an 88 on day one and then improved to an 84 on day two. Coben Taylor (Saskatoon) won the division in a playoff after rounds of 77 and 76.

Swift Current’s Jace Munro tied for eighth in the Mini Tour event in the Boys 11-12 Division with a score of 102. Shaunavon’s Jhett Cruthers was 11th with a 122 at Elk Ridge.
