Southwest familie lead the way at Threshermans Stampede

A pair of prominent Southwest rodeo families led the way at the Threshermans Stampede in Austin, MB on July 27-30.

Mankota’s Shawn Williamson was the top cowboy in Tie Down Roping in 9.9 seconds for a $1,096 payday.

Mankota’s Kiera Williamson added a win for the family in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 17.56 seconds for $288.

Maple Creek’s Blake Link rode Sweet Apple Pie for 73 points for second place in Bareback to take home $864. Cassien Haudegand (Weyburn) won the event with 78.5 points on Princess Xena.

Waldeck’s Tuftin and Tyce McLeod placed second in Team Roping in Austin in 7.0 seconds for $2,089. Shamrock’s Kevin Turner and Kent Drake (Moose Jaw) were tied for second in 7.0 seconds. Hazenmore’s Ben Switzer and Colter Dunn (Ogema) were sixth in 7.6 seconds for $486. Rylin Traynor (Delisle) and Morgan Anderson (Rockglen) won the event in 6.6 seconds.

Waldeck’s Mallory McLeod was fourth in Ladies Barrel Racing in 17.31 seconds for $844. Mankota’s April Williamson followed in eighth spot in 17.57 seconds for $120. Chloe Woods (Moosomin) won the event in 16.84 seconds.

Maple Creek’s Adam Gilchrist placed sixth in Steer Wrestling in 13.5 seconds for $180. Coy McPhee (Hanley) won the event in 7.6 seconds.

Lucky Lake’s Sheridan Lillyman finished seventh in Ladies Breakaway Roping in 4.9 seconds for $252. Hannah McCannell (Carievale) won the event in 2.7 seconds.

The CCA is in the Southwest this weekend for the Herbert Stampede and the Reno Rodeo in Consul.
