15U AAA 57’s take three of four games to conclude regular season

Swift Current’s Samuel Olesen won both games over the Regina Athletics on Sunday.

The Swift Current Kal Tire 57’s won three of four home games over the weekend to conclude the Saskatchewan Premier U15 AAA Baseball League regular season.

Saturday, the 57’s split with the visiting White Butte Broncos. They won the opening game 9-0 as Mason Fauser dominated on the mound and at the plate. He hit two doubles, one single, stole two bases, scored twice, and had two runs batted in. On the mound, Fauser struck out 10 over 5.2 scoreless innings.

Aiden Kilshaw singled, walked, stole three bases, and scored twice from the leadoff spot. Levi Wills walked three times, stole two bases, and scored twice. Quinn Bolton hit a home run, walked, and scored twice. Jase Johnson singled, stole a base, and added two RBIs.

Samuel Olesen got the final four outs to preserve the shutout.

The 57’s dropped game two 9-7 in an extra inning after leading for much of the game.

Kilshaw struck out 10 batters over five innings as he held the Broncos to two runs, only one that was earned.

Fauser hit a home run as he finished the game with a single, two walks, a stolen base, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Kilshaw singled twice, walked, stole three bases, and scored twice. Wills singled, walked twice, stole a  base, scored two runs, and had one RBI.

The 57’s returned to the win column on Sunday afternoon with an 11-7 win over the Regina Athletics after a four-run sixth inning.

Kilshaw caused havoc on the base paths with one single, one walk, three stolen bases, and two runs scored. Wills singled, walked twice, stole two bases, scored three runs, and added one RBI.

Fauser singled, scored, and had two RBIs. Bolton doubled, scored twice, and brought two runs around to score. Johnson doubled, scored, and had two RBIs.

Olesen singled, stole a base, walked, scored, and had one RBI. He also earned the win on the mound after striking out three with only one hit against over 2.2 innings.

The 57’s built up a 6-1 lead in the first inning to take game two 10-9.

Wills singled twice, walked, scored twice, and added three RBIs in the win. Kilshaw singled, doubled, walked, stole a base, and scored three runs. Fauser singled, doubled, stole three bases, scored, twice, and had one RBI. Bolton singled, doubled, walked, stole a base, scored a run, and added two RBIs. Zach Mitchell singled twice and had one RBI.

Olesen added another win as he pitched the final three innings, allowing two walks, three hits, and two runs, while striking out four.

The 57’s finished with a 13-15 record in the regular season. They will attend Baseball Saskatchewan 15U AAA Tier 1 Provincials this weekend in Saskatoon.
