The Swift Current 57’s baseball club announced on Thursday that it had relieved Head Coach and General Manager Tim Brown of his duties.

The 57’s had gotten out to a 9-15 start in the Western Canadian Baseball League under Brown in his first season in Swift Current.

“The Board felt that there was a growing disconnect between Tim and the players. As we were fast approaching the midway point in the season, we felt that now was the time to make a change at the Head Coach/Manager position. I personally would like to thank Tim for his time spent with us and wish him nothing but the best moving forward,” stated 57’s Vice President of Baseball Operation Brad Woods in a team issued statement.

Hitting coach Keith Herring will take over as the Interim Head Coach. They defeated the Sylvan Lake Gulls 4-0 on Wednesday under Herring.

“Interim Head Coach/Manager Keith Herring, along with Assistant Coaches Brody Boyenko, and Will Iannacone, have the full support of the Board moving forward,” added Woods.
