Murdoch named Player of the Week

Swift Current’s Ethan Murdoch was named a NJCAA Region 9 Baseball Player of the Week for the third time this season.

The sophomore outfielder/catcher led the McCook Community College baseball team to a 6-0 record last week as they stretched their winning streak to 16 games along the way.

Murdoch hit .667 with 14 hits in 21 at-bats. The second-year outfielder scored 14 runs and added 13 runs batted in. He homered twice and now has 10 home runs on the season. Murdoch also had four doubles and four walks.

He currently boasts a .425 average, 43 RBI’s, and 46 runs scored in 37 games with McCook. They have a 24-13 record this season.

Murdoch is set to suit up for his hometown Swift Current 57’s in the Western Canadian Baseball League this season. The 57’s will open the regular season on May 27 when they host the Regina Red Sox.

MCC will be in Colby, Kan for a non-conference game on Wednesday.
