Dylan Mortensen has been named a First Team All Canadian in his final season with the University of Saskatchewan men’s volleyball team.

The Swift Current native led Canada West in kills (482) and points (572.5) while establishing new career records in both categories. He had been named the U SPORTS men’s volleyball player of the week after registering 24 kills, eight digs, and one service ace in a 3-1 win over the Calgary Dinos in the bronze medal match last weekend.

The Huskies placed fourth in the regular season with a 17-7 record and then finished third in the playoffs to advance to Nationals.

The Huskies will face the host McMaster University Marauders on Friday evening in the quarter-final match in Hamilton.

Swift Current’s Henry Rempel is also at Nationals  with the Trinity Western University Spartans. They will face the Montreal University Carabins in the quarter-final on Friday evening.

TWU placed third in the regular season with an 18-6 record and then lost to Alberta in the championship match.

Rempel, a third-year outside hitter, was ninth in Canada West with 33 service aces and was 10th with 337.5 points.
