Wildcats collect league hardware

The Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats collected four major Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League awards and also took home four all-star team spots this season.

Head coach Terry Pavely was recognized with the Shannon Miller/Wally Kozak Top Coach Award after leading the Wildcats to a third-place finish with a 17-9-4-0 record this season. He previously won the award in 2007-08.

Karlee Lehner took home the Brittony Chartier Top Goalie Award. She is the first Wildcat to win the award since Amaya Giraudier was a co-recipient in 2019-20. The Prince Albert product led the league with a 1.35 goals against average and a .955 save percentage. She was second with 12 wins and tied for second with five shutouts. Lehner was also named to the First All-Star Team. She has committed to Northland College for next season.

Caitlyn Perlinger collected the Colleen Sostorics Top Defenseman Award. She is the first Wildcat to win the award since Taylor Kirwan in 2017-18. The Kindersley product finished second amongst all defensemen with 25 points in 30 regular season games. Perlinger was also named to the First All-Star Team. She has committed to the University of Calgary Dinos next season.

Forward Addison Eurich won the Fiona Smith Most Sportsmanlike Player Award.  Eurich was assessed only 14 penalty minutes while finishing 12th in league scoring with 27 points in 30 games. Baylee Kirwan was the most recent Wildcat to win the award in 2019-20.

Jerzey Watteyne was also named a forward on the First All-Star Team. She finished second in the league with 26 goals and was fourth with 43 points in 30 games. The Lafleche native has committed to Mount Royal University next season.

Gull Lake’s Sadie Keller was named a forward on the Second All-Star Team. Keller was tied for eighth in league scoring with 35 points in 30 games. She has committed to the University of Manitoba for next season.
