Broncos win third straight in Edmonton

The Swift Current Broncos won a third straight game with an 8-0 victory in Edmonton on Saturday. Special teams played a major role as the Broncos finished with three power play goals and one while shorthanded.

13 different skaters registered at least a point, led by two goals and one assist from Connor Hvidston.

The Broncos took an early lead courtesy of a Hvidston power play goal, his 18th of the season. Josh Davies doubled the lead midway through the first period, his 17th goal.

Josh Filmon hit the 40-goal plateau with a power play goal in the second period.

The floodgates opened in the third period with goals from Hvidston, while shorthanded, Braeden Lewis, Brady Birnie, and Sam Ward, his first Western Hockey League goal.

Owen Pickering had three assists, while Mathew Ward and Sam McGinley both added two helpers.

Joey Rocha improved to 8-4-0-1 with 24 saves for the Broncos in his first WHL shutout.

Kolby Hay made 42 saves in a losing cause.

The Broncos improved to 28-27-1-2 on the season. Edmonton fell to 8-48-3-0 with their 11th straight loss.

The Broncos will visit the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday afternoon
