A four-goal third period propelled the Swift Current Broncos to a 7-5 win over the host Brandon Wheat Kings on Tuesday.
The Broncos fell behind on a Brett Hyland goal midway through the first period. They quickly replied with goals from Grayson Burzynski, Mathew Ward, and Josh Davies.
Brandon answered with consecutive goals from Nate Danielson, Hyland, and Dawson Pasternak for a 4-3 lead heading into the third period.
Brady Birnie scored twice for the Broncos in the opening 3:47 of the third period. Connor Hvidston scored the eventual game winner with a shorthanded goal. Josh Filmon added an insurance goal, his team leading 33rd goal of the season.
Anthony Wilson closed the scoring for Brandon with a goal against his hometown team.
Joey Rocha earned the win with 32 saves. Carson Bjarnason made 23 saves for the Wheat Kings.
Caleb Wyrostok had three assists for the Broncos, while Hvidston had two assists for a three-point outing.
The Broncos climbed from ninth to seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 25-22-1-2 record. Brandon remained 10th with a 21-23-7-0 mark.
The Broncos will visit the WHL leading Winnipeg Ice (40-7-1-0) on Wednesday.
