The Southwest had two event winners at the Pilot Butte Rodeo on June 17-19.
Five of the top seven Tie Down Roping performances came from Southwest cowboys in Pilot Butte. Waldeck’s Tyce McLeod won the event in 8.4 seconds in $730, while Tuftin McLeod was second in 8.6 seconds for $604. Swift Current’s Blaine Switzer was third in 9.6 seconds for $478. Mankota’s Shawn Williamson was fourth in 10.2 seconds for $352. Swift Current’s Kevin Folk tied for sixth in 10.5 seconds for $63.
Maple Creek’s Kate Beierbach added a win in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 14.8 seconds for $300 at the Canadian Cowboys Association event.
Tee McLeod was second in Steer Wrestling in 4.5 seconds for $648. Kyle’s Chad Hantelman was sixth in 7.0 seconds for a $135 payday. Scott Sigfusson (Tugaske) won the event in 4.4 seconds.
Tyce and Tee McLeod also placed second in Team Roping in 5.6 seconds for $1,771. Delisle’s Vincent and Rylin Traynor won the event in 4.7 seconds.
Hazenmore’s Chanse Switzer tied for second in Bull Riding with a 72-point effort on Western Wine for $638. Grady Young (Tyvan) won the event with 73 points on King of the Hill.
Swift Current’s Madison Kovar was third in Ladies Breakaway Roping in 2.8 seconds for $666. Fayth Panchuk (Vanscoy) won the event in 2.2 seconds.
Eastend’s Haley Glasrud was the only Southwest athlete on the leaderboard in Ladies Barrel Racing. She placed fourth in 14.84 seconds for $617. Shayna McCannel (Brandon) won the event in 14.80 seconds.
The CCA will be in Swift Current for the Frontier Day Rodeo beginning on June 30.
